A direct sequel to the original Summer Games, Summer Games II (1985) continues Epyx’s Olympic-style competition with eight new events: triple jump, high jump, javelin throw, equestrian, rowing, cycling, fencing, and kayaking. Up to eight players can represent different countries and take turns competing for medals.
Each event introduces distinct mechanics—timing, coordination, or navigation challenges. Triple jump, for instance, requires precise directional inputs for each phase of the jump, while kayaking emphasizes steering through a river course under time pressure. Players can compete in a full sequence, select individual events, or practice freely. The game includes both opening and closing ceremonies, and those with the original Summer Games disk could merge events from both titles for an extended competition.
The game offers more variety and nuance than its predecessor, with events that test a broader range of skills across both solo and multiplayer play.
