Street Cat

1987
Street Cat (1987), released in Europe as Bad Cat, is a quirky multi-event action-sports game where you control a rebellious feline athlete competing in an unconventional urban olympics. Decked out in a sleeveless jacket and headband, your street-smart cat faces off against both obstacles and a canine rival across four distinct events, each testing reflexes and precision timing. One to four players can participate, taking turns to navigate the challenges. The game’s events include:
  • City Park – A classic side-scrolling obstacle course featuring ditches, scaffolding, and balance challenges, including a rolling ball segment.
  • The Arena – A watery trampoline sequence where your cat leaps to hit specific targets while avoiding a splashy downfall.
  • The Underground Sewer – A grimy maze full of rats, falling bricks, and water hazards; part obstacle course, part beat-em-up.
  • The Bowling Pub – A surreal showdown where you hurl balls across intersecting lanes to hit a rival bulldog. Take too many hits, and you’ll be forced to drink at the bar—making it harder to track the lanes.
  • Between events, an interlude shows the cat racing between locations on a motorbike while dodging police patrols in a top-down city map.
Each level is timed, with remaining seconds converted into bonus points. Judges may award extra points for style, and special glowing “balls” provide further scoring opportunities. Success demands quick reflexes, memorization, and clever joystick maneuvers—including running, crouching, jumping, and somersaults. Street Cat offered a blend of humor, challenge, and arcade flair, standing out for its oddball themes and urban flavor in the sports genre.
This title was originally Bad Cat from Rainbow Arts, and the rights for this seem to be with Ziggurat.  Please see our Licensor page for more details.
