In the ambitious first-person maze game Escape from the Mindmaster (1982), players are abducted by the enigmatic Mindmaster and forced to navigate six increasingly complex labyrinths filled with puzzles and deadly traps. Each maze contains color-coded shape pegs that must be matched to their sockets while evading an alien stalker. Between areas, players complete skill tests involving dexterity, memory, and reaction time. The beeping stalker indicator adds tension, and random peg placement enhances replayability. Widely regarded as one of the best uses of the Supercharger’s capabilities, the game earned a spot on Flux magazine’s Top 100 Video Games list.
Here’s a
100% Gluten Free review of Escape from the Mindmaster, which was written by Dennis Caswell, who later created Impossible Mission. It’s a fun premise with a few great mazes to solve. Along with the entire Supercharger line up, we’d like to see this library brought to modern audiences.
