Impossible Mission II

1988
Elvin, the deranged super-genius from the original Impossible Mission, is back in this 1988 sequel—this time hiding in a nine-tower fortress, and you have only eight hours to stop him from unleashing global destruction. As a secret agent, you’ll infiltrate his labyrinthine stronghold, dodging deadly robots, searching rooms for hidden clues, and solving puzzles that unlock the paths between towers. Each tower features its own theme, and progressing requires both logic and dexterity. The sequel expands on the original’s side-scrolling platform-puzzle formula with new enemies, new gadgets like timed bombs and touch-triggered mines, and a musical memory system. In addition to collecting numerical passcodes, you’ll retrieve fragments of melodies from hidden safes to unlock the central tower. Robot behavior varies by type, and smart use of snoozes and lift resets is key to survival. The rooms are richly animated using Epyx’s advanced Film Director tool, with gameplay designed around tight timing and pattern recognition. While retaining the atmospheric tension and exploratory structure of the first game, Impossible Mission II deepens the challenge with layered objectives and more varied environments. It remains one of Epyx’s most technically ambitious and cerebral platformers of the era.
A well-received sequel to the original, we’d really like to bring both of these titles back to modern audiences in a reimagined modern experience.  If you’re up to the challenge, please reach out to us.
